Look who’s taking on Bolivia’s 8-peak challenge. You will be surprised.

This is inspiring to the nth degree. A group of “cholitas” — indigenous Bolivian women — have been on a journey to summit eight Bolivian peaks, all over 19,600 feet above sea level. In the video above they are climbing (and bagging) Mt. Illimani, Bolivia’s second highest mountain at 21,122 feet, while wearing their traditional dress. From the AJ+ YouTube page: “Many worked as porters and cooks with their tour-guide husbands, but now they’re doing it on their own. Once discriminated against, cholas, or cholitas, are making a resurgence in modern Bolivian culture.” Rock on.
