IN a continuous rebranding bid, Malaysia Airlines (MAS) announced yesterday a strategic partnership with major fashion brand Farah Khan to revamp the airline’s uniform design.

The Malaysian fashion label will design a full range of uniforms for flight deck crew, cabin crew, as well as airport and engineering crew.

Malaysia Airlines chief commercial officer Paul Simon said the iconic MAS kebaya has been a source of pride for generations, but added that the collaboration will lead to a “fashionable and functional new collection”.

The new designs will be unveiled in the fourth quarter of this year, with production to begin soon after.

Farah Khan is a revered Malaysian label that has gained traction in fashion capitals worldwide including Milan, Paris, London and New York.

Last week, Malaysia’s national carrier announced that their signature Golden Lounge will undergo a major facelift by the end of the year.

The lounges, located in Kuala Lumpur International Airport and London’s Heathrow, will see extensive redesigns by KL-based firm Duoz.
