In January, MGM announced that it was going to start charging for parking at some of its resorts in Vegas — something that was previously free of charge. The original implementation date was set for April, but that month came and went and no changes or pricing amounts were shared. But now, MGM has released the parking program implementation date, who will be charged and how much they’ll have to pay.

You can get complimentary parking at the Vdara with M life Rewards Gold status.

The charges vary by the property, service and amount of time you’ll be parking at the property. Note that prices may increase during special events and the first hour of self parking is free for all guests. In addition, self parking of up to 24 hours is complimentary for all guests with a Nevada driver’s license until December 29, 2016. This discount for Nevada residents does not apply to valet parking or when there is special event pricing. Here are the rates for self parking:

Monte Carlo, Luxor, Excalibur Bellagio, Aria, MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, Mirage and New York New York
0-60 minutes No charge No charge
1-4 hours $5 $7
4-24 hours $8 $10
More than 24 hours $8 each additional day $10 each additional day

Here are the rates for valet parking:

Monte Carlo, Luxor, Excalibur, Circus Circus Bellagio, Aria, Vdara, MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, Delano, Mirage, New York New York
0-4 hours $8 $13
4-24 hours $13 $18
More than 24 hours $13 each additional day $18 each additional day

While these prices may not seem too steep, there are ways you can be exempt from paying the hourly rates. Pearl, Gold, Platinum and NOIR M life Rewards members are eligible for complimentary self parking, and Gold, Platinum and NOIR members are eligible for complimentary valet parking. Don’t forget that you can get M life Rewards status through Hyatt Gold Passport — Hyatt Gold Passport Members will get M life Sapphire status, Hyatt Gold Passport Platinum members will get M life Gold status and Hyatt Gold Passport Diamond members will get M life Platinum status.

You can get automatic Hyatt Gold Passport Platinum status with the Hyatt Credit Card, and therefore M life Gold status, making you exempt from parking fees at all M life properties. The card is currently offering two free nights at any Hyatt property after you spend $1,000 in the first three months of account opening, as well as a free night at any Category 1-4 property after your cardmember anniversary.
