During my most recent visit to Mazatlan, I stayed at Pacific Palace, one of four Mazatlan hotels owned by Hoteles Palace (not to be confused with Palace Resorts, which has no properties in Mazatlan). This is a review of my experience — and a guide to help you decide which hotel might be right for you the next time you head to this popular Mexico beach destination.
THE STYLE: Hoteles Palace operates four hotels in Mazatlan, and each is positioned slightly differently, as follows:
• Star Palace, the newest property, opened in April 2017 with 120 rooms. It’s focused on couples.
• Pacific Palace, which opened in 2015, is focused on families, and all rooms have kitchenettes. This is one of two hotels in the portfolio that offer an all-inclusive vacation option.
• Luna Palace opened in 2001 and was renovated in 2016. Its target audience is retired people and vacationers planning longer stays.
• Oceano Palace, which opened in 1968, is a fun Mazatlan hotel with a mixed crowd. This is the other Palace hotel in Mazatlan that offers an all-inclusive vacation option.
I stayed at the 147-room Pacific Palace on an all-inclusive plan, and found that the value, views and location were among the top selling points (where else can you get an all-inclusive hotel deal for $120 or less?).
The décor at Pacific Palace is subdued yet attractive; the small lobby and reception area leads to the beach-facing restaurants (where you can enjoy a variety of tasty cuisine) and swimming pools. I was also able to use the larger pool at the adjacent Oceano Palace.
THE ROOMS: I simply loved the view from my room, #1401, a 14th-floor room that’s especially spacious, with two double beds, a balcony with glorious beach and ocean views, a sizable kitchenette with large refrigerator, sink, microwave and dining utensils. The bathroom had a nice big shower.
HOTEL FEATURES: The Sunset restaurant is casual, compact and attractive, with lots of natural light and ocean views — as well as delicious food with Mexican and international flavor.

BEST FOR: Budget-minded travelers looking for a full-service hotel with great value on the beach in Mazatlan.
RATES: About $56 and up (the all-inclusive package runs around $120 a night, depending on season)
