The Southern Africa Tourism Services Association’s (Satsa) annual conference will kick off next week, Monday July 23.
In addition to an excellent line-up of speakers addressing various aspects around the conference theme ‘Transforming Geographical Spread’ – including an address and Q&A session with South African Tourism Minister, Derek Hanekom – Satsa has partnered with Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism (NMBT) to offer conference delegates the opportunity to experience some of the tourism offerings that the Eastern Cape has to offer, in a selection of pre- and post-conference tours.
The partnership will offer conference delegates an NMB Satsa Pass, which will give free access or discounted rates for various attractions, activities and tours, including museums, game reserves, scuba diving, art galleries, sightseeing tours and more.
The tours available are as follows (more information, including dates and costs, available on the Satsa website):
Normal NMB Pass (free): includes normal unlimited itinerary NMB Pass products as listed on the Nelson Mandela Bay Pass website.
Add Adventure Tour (free): 20 delegates will receive a free tour including transfer from PE and back. Tour includes a visit to the longest double zipline in Africa and the swing, a short eco walk, and bush lunch at Addo Wildlife.
Addo Elephant National Park tour (free): open-safari vehicle game drive through the Addo Elephant National Park.
Algoa Bay Ocean Safari (free): first 50 delegates receive a complimentary Ocean Safari. Travel through Algoa Bay and see seals, sharks and possibly the seasonal Southern Right and Humpback whales.
Calabash Real City Township tour (highly discounted): a tour of the city, this excursion gives insight into the development and history of the people. It covers the city centre with its English heritage, and proceeds to the townships. See shack dwellings, speak to local guides and be immersed in the Xhosa culture.
Cape Recife, Lighthouse and Grysbok Nature Reserve 4×4 tour (highly discounted): travel to the southernmost tip of Algoa Bay and stop at the SANCCOB for a tour of the marine bird and penguin rehabilitation centre. At Cape Recife, explore the mobile sand dunes and historic operational lighthouse. Continuing to Grysbok Nature Reserve, a host of wildlife and birdlife can be observed while 4x4ing through the area.
