Wattura Resort & Spa will open next month as the first wellness and family boutique resort in Sri Lanka.

Located just under a 30-minute drive from the International Airport in Negombo, Wattura comprises 27 villas and suites located on a pristine swathe of sand, between Waikkal Beach and the Gin Oya Estuary.

Wattura means water in Sinhalese and the resort has been conceived as a tribute to Sri Lankan culture and its strong associations with water – celebrating life, abundance and health.

Privacy is core to the guest experience and accommodation choices include the Deluxe Suite, Gin Oya Suite, Wattura Villa or the avant-garde Wattura Residence.

The resort’s ethos revolves around bespoke experiences – with personal butlers on hand to curate private dinners in secluded bays to carefully curated whale watching expeditions.

A resort for all ages, children will be pampered and entertained by professionally certified staff at the Wattura Kids area – an expansive space spanning 7,200 sq. ft including an indoor retro arcade game experience, pool and foosball tables, toddler lounge, mini theatre and a water playground.

Meanwhile adults will have plenty of time to switch off and relax in pristine coastal surroundings and indulge in the impressive Wattura Spa, which forms the heart and soul of the resort.

The spacious and secluded Wattura Kids area is located adjacent to the lobby and designed to ensure kids are constantly engaged with a wide range of activities.

Wattura Kids also boasts a secure toddler lounge along with an expansive teenage zone equipped with XBOX, Play station and its own kids café.

A modern indoor loft offers a bird’s eye view of this sprawling kid’s zone.

The impressive Wattura Spa, is located in the heart of the property, spanning an area of 3000 sq. ft featuring three treatment rooms, herbal baths and relaxation rooms surrounded by a private lotus pool.

The spa has been designed to provide guests with a layered wellness experience starting the journey with a foot bath and exfoliating treatments to a private relaxation area featuring an aqua therapy waterfall, fish ponds, steam room, day beds placed within typical Sri Lankan gardens and multi temperature aqua pools for relaxation.

An extensive treatment plan has been cultivated harnessing local ingredients – including river mud, blue lotus and Ayurvedic spices to create natural body scrubs, healing treatments to nourish the body.

The retreat is also home to a fully equipped fitness centre with all modern facilities for the more physique conscious individuals.

The outdoor pool is an iconic resemblance of the Twin Ponds concept from medieval Anuradhapura. A cascading waterfall towering approximately 20 foot in height plunges into the Spa and one end of the pool.
