FOOD and beverage industry professionals from Thailand and around the world are congregating at Bangkok’s IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Centre for the THAIFEX-World of Food Asia 2016 currently taking place until May 29.

The 13th edition of the fair will showcase a selection of exhibitors, innovative products, celebrity baristas and aspiring chefs, as well as the latest food and beverage trends.

Supporting programs that have been outlined this year include the World Barista Champion at Celebrity Coffee Bar, new classes at the Signature Event Thailand Ultimate Chef Challenge, and live cooking demonstrations.

This year marks the highest number of exhibitors to date with 1,919 exhibitors from 40 countries, and an 18 percent growth in international participants from last year.

In a separate report by Skift, it was revealed that food tourists today are willing to travel farther away from their hotels for a memorable meal.

The report added that “destinations are missing out on longer stays, more repeat visitation, and higher average visitor spending if they’re not packaging and promoting their food tourism product in line with 2016 trends”.
