Following the success of the first Travel Trade Maldives which took place in the Male, the country’s capital, on 12 and 13 July 2017, the Maldives authority announced second Travel Trade Maldives show which is scheduled to take place over an extended three days from 1 – 3 May 2018.

The inaugural Travel Trade Maldives (TTM) Tourism was an extremely important market to the Maldives and the destination continues to welcome an increasing number of tourists, including a 3.2% rise in UK visitors in June 2017, compared to last year. The Maldives government has, therefore, announced plans to develop over 50 resorts before the end of 2018, with estimations that the island nation will have over 50,000 beds available to tourists by 2020.

Held at Dharubaaruge in the capital of Male, the travel trade show was the first of its kind in the country which saw over 200 tourism professionals in attendance and attendees included resort and hotel general managers, resident managers, key hotel owners, international travel trade stakeholders and other travel industry professionals. In total, over 3,000 scheduled meetings took place at the show, to discuss business contracts worth more than £776 million ($1 billion) combined.

In addition, the first-ever Tourism Career Fair was also held during TTM at the National Art Gallery, with over 2,000 students and industry professionals meeting with hotels and resorts currently recruiting.
