Norwegian Cruise Line will assign a second ship to do short Cuba cruises, and it, too, will have an open bar.
The Norwegian Sun will reposition to Port Canaveral next summer, sailing a four-day itinerary to Havana and Key West, with an overnight in Havana. The Sun will also do three-day cruises to the Bahamas.
Currently, the Norwegian Epic sails some short cruises from Port Canaveral, but not in the summer months.
The 1,936-passenger Sun currently sails in Alaska in the summer. It will be replaced there in 2018 by the 2,376-passenger Norwegian Jewel.
The Norwegian Sky, which currently sails short Cuba cruises from Miami, has had an open bar for 18 months. Norwegian said it has been very well-received and that Port Canaveral was the ideal location to expand the concept.
The Norwegian Jewel will sail several Alaska itineraries from Vancouver, including a series of alternating seven-day cruises that go from Vancouver to Seward northbound, and Seward to Vancouver southbound.
In addition to the Jewel, Norwegian will have the Norwegian Pearl and the new Norwegian Bliss in Alaska next summer.
