With less than a fortnight to go before World Travel Awards arrives in Shanghai for the launch of its Grand Tour 2017, the travel industry’s leading awards programme is delighted to unveil the latest details of its Asia & Australasia event.
Jeresa Gao and Lin Quan – both hugely experienced hosts and presenters – have been announced as comperes of the upcoming Gala Ceremony, which will take place in China’s commercial capital at the Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai on Sunday June 4th.
The event will also showcase some of China’s finest traditions including kirin – a celebration, through song, of the mythical animals of Kylin who promote peace and prosperity – and performances such as Su San danced with moonlight.
The latter takes inspiration from the Peking Opera, a complicated Chinese stage art that combines performances, acrobatics, gongs, drums, facial paintings, music and more, and is sure to elate.
A horse racing ceremony, deriving from the prairies of China and featuring galloping horses, music and drums as well as beautifully dressed performers, completes the dazzling line up of performances.
Speaking ahead of World Travel Awards’ Asia & Australasia Gala Ceremony 2017, WTA president Graham Cooke said: “It will be a pleasure to return to Shanghai for the first time since the inaugural World Travel Awards Asia & Australasia Gala Ceremony in 2008.
“As you would expect, it will be an evening to remember and I can’t wait to share it with all of our nominees at the Grand Kempinski Shanghai.”
World Travel Awards was established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the tourism industry.
Today, the World Travel Awards brand is recognised globally as the ultimate hallmark of quality, with winners setting the benchmark to which all others aspire.
Each year, World Travel Awards covers the globe with a series of regional gala ceremonies staged to recognise and celebrate individual and collective success within each key geographical region.
World Travel Awards Gala Ceremonies are widely regarded as the best networking opportunities in the travel industry, attended by government and industry leaders, luminaries and international print and broadcast media.
