ASA, the key association for promoting tourism to Southern and East Africa, is celebrating its 30th anniversary by sending 60 of its top travel agents to Namibia, Botswana, Kenya and South Africa, with operators Diamir, Gebeco and Severin, to experience the countries its agents will be promoting to their local travellers. ASA President, Werner Gordes, says: “Without a deep knowledge of the African destinations one can’t seriously sell them – that’s why we are sending our colleagues to our partner destinations in Africa.”

The initiative is supported by airline partners South African Airways, Air Namibia and Ethiopian Airlines; as well as Namibia Tourism Board Frankfurt, Dertour and Tsogo Sun.

‘ASA goes Africa’ will take place in Johannesburg in June and will encompass in-depth lectures about the four destinations, highlighted by a short trip on Rovos Rail. Networking among African ASA members will also be a pivotal part of the programme.
