When you’re at the airport, one of the most time-consuming tasks — besides waiting in extremely long TSA security checkpoint lines — is the process of checking a bag. Leo can transport two suitcases (up to 32kg) at a time, and is programmed to avoid obstacles (including people) in its path. The Swiss company behind Leo, Sita, believes this new technology is the future of robotics in airports, but it’s not clear if it’s going to be used at any airports other than Geneva in the near future. It seems like a neat idea, but there are sure to be kinks in the technology that Sita will have to work out before anything like this becomes widely available.
