PHOCUSWRIGHT, the travel industry’s research authority, is organizing a webinar to discuss the growth of mobile and instant messaging in the travel and hospitality industry.

Topics will include the use of text messaging and apps to engage with customers, the use of chat in hospitality for guest service, the role of artificial intelligence and bots in powering chat, and the future of chat and how it would impact the travel industry.

The free webinar will be led by vice president of Phocuswright, Douglas Quinby, as well as senior product manager of Enterprise Mobile Messaging, Austin Wheat.

According to a report by Skift, messaging is emerging as a viable alternative to social media as it plays well in developing markets and among younger consumers.

Online travel agencies and brands like Kayak, Expedia and Skyscanner have introduced bots that use instant messaging as an application interface. It’s predicted that more travel bots will emerge as brands learn how consumers in travel use them.
