Tourlane, a US-based travel and tourism agency, has named Zimbabwe the safest place to visit globally when countries reopen their borders for international travellers post-COVID-19.
Security risks such as the number of COVID-19 cases, health regulations, population density, hours of sunlight, and flight connections to the USA are among the criteria used to determine the rankings.
Matetsi Victoria Falls co-founder, Sara Gardiner, said tourism players in Zimbabwe had invested a lot in staff training.
“Zimbabwean tourism operators have trained their teams with global-standard COVID-19 protocols. These, coupled with our warm authentic hospitality, will ensure guests have an exceptional stay with added comfort and reassurance. Furthermore, the PCR testing facilities within Zimbabwe are performing at better-than-world-class standards, with test results available in less than 24 hours, ensuring a seamless experience for travellers,” she said.
This ranking by Tourlane, said Sara, stood Zimbabwe in good stead as the world begins to reopen and international travellers start to choose their next destination.
“Indeed Zimbabwe is definitely one of the safest countries in Southern Africa to travel to. We are a very secure nation with an active police force that quickly responds to crime incidences. Our hospitality services are excellent and very competitive,” said director of Lowveld Travel, Adelaide Chikunguru.
The travel agency ranked Zimbabwe number-one among top-15 destinations, which include Thailand, Fiji, Zambia, Seychelles, Japan, Cambodia among others.
