Costa Cruises took delivery of the Costa Firenze today in a digital ceremony. The ship is scheduled to set sail on Feb. 28 on an all-Italy itinerary.

Starting in May, the ship will add Ibiza, Barcelona and Marseille before moving to Asia.

Built at Fincantieri’s Marghera, Italy, shipyard, the ship’s design is “inspired by the Florentine Renaissance,” Costa said, with common spaces that “reflect the harmony of a stroll through a Florentine street or square.” The ship has 13 bars and seven restaurants and features an “adventure park.”

“Our hope is that people will soon be able to travel again and that more ships will set sail and contribute to the revitalization of tourism in Italy, Europe and globally,” said Michael Thamm, group CEO of Costa Group and Carnival Asia, in a statement, calling the ship’s delivery “a sign of hope and restart for the whole cruise and tourism ecosystems.”

The 5,200-passenger ship is the fourth of a seven-ship order to be delivered to Costa by 2023.
