IN a new list of economical travel destinations of 2016 by Price of Travel, Asia is heavily featured in the top ten.

According to the list, tourists can visit Pokhara for just over US$15 a day. The city – Nepal’s largest city after Kathmandu – is a picturesque destination in the Annapurna region that is host to some of the country’s best treks.

Meanwhile, in Hanoi, one can get by with approximately US$17 a day, a bonus in a city that boasts some of the best food in southeast Asia. Even a meal fit for a President costs a mere US$6.

  5. Chiang Mai, Thailand
  6. Kathmandu, Nepal

Metropolitan Asian cities also featured in the list, albeit much further down. Singapore clocked in at number 84 while Singapore jumped in at 104th place. Beijing and Shanghai are at positions 33 and 51 respectively.

On the other hand, some of the most expensive cities for tourists are Zurich, New York City, Venice, Helsinki, Boston, Bergen and London.

The list was tabulated by adding up the daily prices of necessities when traveling including accommodation, three meals, two public transportation rides, one paid cultural attraction and three beers.

While this data is catered to budget travelers, the proportions will be nearly identical, so the list should also be useful to those on a more lavish budget.
