In August, 205 132 travellers (arrivals, departures, and transits) passed through South Africa’s ports of entry/exit.

They were made up of 66 892 South African residents and 138 240 foreign travellers. Foreign travellers made up 67 051 arrivals, 71 148 departures and 41 transits.

The breakdown of the foreign arrivals by region is as follows: 1 950 from overseas; 64 888 from the SADC countries; 137 from ‘other’ African countries, and the country of residence of 76 foreign arrivals was classified as unspecified. International borders opened on October 1.
