Following last year’s easing of visa restrictions, Brazil will soon allow American travelers to enter the country without a visa.
Beginning June 17, citizens of the U.S. as well as Canada, Australia and Japan will be able to visit Brazil for up to 90 days from the date of entry without a visa, and visitors can request to extend that stay to 180 days within a 12-month period.
Previously, U.S. citizens had to visit a Brazilian consulate or visa center as part of the application process, but in January 2018, Brazil rolled out its e-Visa program for Americans, bringing the process online. The e-Visa program resulted in a 35% increase in visa applications, according to the country’s tourism board.
