Eighteen years ago, college professor Tony Díaz was frustrated at how difficult it was to find Latinos interested in writing and literature. He was the first Latino to obtain a Master’s of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the University of Houston, but couldn’t find many spaces where writers of his background came together.
