Cathay Pacific will be launching a seasonal non-stop service between Hong Kong (HKG) and Cape Town (CPT) this November.
The three time weekly service will launch on November 13 2018 until February 18 2019, with tickets and will run alongside Cathay Pacific’s existing daily non-stop flights to Johannesburg.
The new service will be operated by an Airbus A350-900, with tickets already available online.
The schedule is as follows:
-Flight CX795 from HKG to CPT will depart at 23h45 and arrive the following day at 08h05 every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.
-Flight CX794 from CPT to HKG will depart at 11h05 and arrive the following day at 06h55, every Monday Wednesday and Friday.
The announcement of this new route follows the recent State of the Nation Address (SONA) given by SA’s President, Cyril Ramaphosa, where he highlighted the importance of growing the tourism sector for the betterment of the South African economy.
Western Cape Minister of Economic Opportunities, Alan Winde commented:”We are thrilled that Cathay Pacific is launching a direct flight to Cape Town. This will allows us to unlock massive tourism potential from the East, a market which is already important to us.”
CEO of Wesgro, Tim Harris added that Cathay Pacific’s new Cape Town route will help boost tourism, enabling further investment for the province and the creation of additional jobs, adding:”We look forward to welcoming the first flight, and our team will work closely with the airline to help make the route a success.”
Cathay Pacific CEO, Rupert Hogg said:” “We are very pleased to be able to expand our services in Africa, a booming aviation market. Growing our reach to destinations that are not otherwise served from Hong Kong creates considerable new opportunities for business, trade and tourism, in addition to strengthening our home hub.”
