Princess Cruises will move the Diamond Princess to South America and Antarctica for the fall 2021 and spring 2022 seasons, replacing the Sapphire Princess on the same December-to-March deployment.

Princess said earlier this month that the ship would be redeployed from Asia after canceling its sailings through April 2022. It will return to Japan in spring 2022.

The Diamond Princess South American cruises will depart from Buenos Aires and from Santiago, Chile.

As a result of the change, three Sapphire Princess Baja Peninsula and Sea of Cortes cruises and three Hawaiian Islands cruises in fall 2021 and spring 2022 will be canceled.

The Diamond Princess will sail two new Pacific Crossings to and from Asia in fall 2021 and spring 2022 and sail the North Pacific Ocean with either Southeast Asia and Hawaii or Hawaii and Japan. These sailings are between Los Angeles and either Singapore or Yokohama (Tokyo).
