Emerald Waterways has christened the 112-passenger Emerald Radiance, in Porto, Portugal, where the ship will sail on the Douro River.

Gill Williams, a U.K.-based travel agent, served as the ship’s godmother.

The Emerald Radiance brings to six the total number of ships in the Emerald fleet. The company also launched the Emerald Destiny last month in Vienna and the Emerald Liberte is scheduled to be christened in Lyon, France, in September, which will bring the fleet size to seven.

A defining feature of the Emerald Radiance is a new category of staterooms, the Riverview Suites, which are 300-square-foot cabins located at the rear of the ship with panoramic floor-to ceiling windows on two sides of the cabin. There is also a pool on the sun deck, and two restaurants: Reflections, the main dining room, and The Terrace for light breakfast and lunch. As with all Emerald ships there is an onboard hairdresser, massage therapy room and fitness area.

The Emerald Radiance will sail through Portugal’s Douro River Valley on the eight-day Secrets of the Douro cruise roundtrip from Porto. There will be an included trip to the Spanish city of Salamanca, as well as numerous excursions within Portugal.
