Entebbe International Airport has opened a new expanded departures terminal.

The new terminal can handle more than three million passengers annually, up from two million previously.

Boarding lounges have been reconfigured, with partitions removed to provide more space and seating areas.

The airport recorded 42 633 international passengers in November this year – an average of 1 676 passengers a day compared with the daily average of 1 375 passengers in October.

The airport resumed commercial passenger flights on October 1 after seven months of inactivity due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.

Work is still in progress on the new arrivals terminal, which is set to open soon.
