Finnair has re-timed its late flight out of Edinburgh to Helsinki in a move designed to make flying to the Far East and Asia easier.

Moving the flight to an earlier departure time from Edinburgh, means customers can now connect via fast transfers in the Finnish capital on to popular late-night flights from Helsinki to Singapore, Hong Kong and Bangkok.

From November 1st, the AY1374, which used to leave at 19:45 for Helsinki, will now depart at 18:30 from Edinburgh arriving into Helsinki at 23:05, taking into account the two-hour time difference between Scotland and Finland.

The move has taken place to enable customers to connect conveniently on to flights to three of the top 19 Asian cities served by the Finnish flag carrier, taking advantage of the shorter northern route.

Andrew Fish, Finnair general manager UK & Ireland & Benelux, said: “Moving the departure time of our second daily service from Edinburgh to Helsinki makes it even easier for our customers to catch conveniently connecting flights from Scotland onto destinations in the Far East and Asia.

“Now customers can fly on to Singapore, Hong Kong and Bangkok the same day they depart Edinburgh and enjoy a seamless travelling experience with our unique Nordic service on board our growing fleet of state-of-the-art Airbus A350s.”

As every one of Finnair’s flights are located in the same terminal at Helsinki Airport, customers can be confident of catching their connecting flight in as little as 35 minutes.

Finnair now flies to 19 cities in Asia, including four cities in Japan – the most of any European airline.
