Great Plains Conservation has announced dates for the closure of luxury tented Selinda Camp in Botswana, for a complete rebuild.
Cheryl Lubner, Reservations Director of the camp, told Tourism Update that the camp would close on November 1 and reopen on July 1. “The camp is reopening on the same level as that of Duba Plains Camp and Zarafa Camp,” adds Lubner.
The camp has nine expansive tents, with thatched roofs, large en-suite bathrooms and private verandahs. All the tents will be rebuilt.
Selinda Camp is in the Selinda Reserve in the north of the country, along the eastern banks of the Selinda Spillway, near the confluence of the Linyanti, Savute and Kwando Rivers.
Great Plains Conservation came to Selinda Reserve in 2007, reclaiming the magnificent area from the shadows of hunting, and placing the entire property under photographic tourism.
Great Plains offers game drives throughout the day, focusing primarily on early-morning and afternoon, and early-evening game drives. Selinda Camp is a land-based camp, however, boating is possible on the Spillway in one of the camp’s two powerboats, water level dependent.
