Africa Eco Camps’ Ilkeliani Camp in Kenya’s Maasai Mara, will close for a refurbishment from mid-April and reopen in the first week of June.

The upgrades will include new guest tents, new furnishings and a revamp of the existing décor, while retaining the authentic safari style that Ilkeliani has maintained over the years.

The main public areas will have a new spacious bar lounge and the deck will be redesigned to optimise the use of the open space overlooking the Talek River.

The dining area will be expanded to include a live cooking area serving bush brunches and meals. The upgrades also include a new kitchen and ancillary facilities.

Two family tents that comprise two bedrooms, bathrooms, a lounge and a private deck will be available and a new special-needs tent will offer easy wheelchair access.

During peak season, from July to October, the Great Migration of wildebeest and other grazers and plains animals takes place in the Mara.
