InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced plans to bring its Voco brand to the U.S., with outposts slated to open in New York City, Florida and Missouri by early next year.

IHG unveiled the upscale Voco flag in 2018 with the aim of combining “the informality and charm of an individual hotel with the quality and reassurance of a global and respected brand.”

So far, the brand has opened a dozen properties across the globe, in the U.K., the Middle East, Australia and Montenegro.’

Stateside, IHG plans to debut the 50-room Voco the Franklin Hotel, located in New York’s Upper East Side neighborhood, and the 50-room Voco Historic St. Augustine in Florida. The brand’s third project will be the 64-room Voco the Tiger Hotel, located near the University of Missouri campus in Columbia.

All three hotels, which are conversions of existing properties, are expected to be up and running by the first quarter of 2021.

According to Julienne Smith, IHG’s senior vice president for development in the Americas, Voco has a total of around 21 properties in the pipeline worldwide; around two-thirds of those projects are conversions. That includes plans for hotels in Edinburgh, Scotland; the Hague, Netherlands; Frankfurt, Germany; Johannesburg, South Africa; Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; Danang, Vietnam; and Wuhan, China.
