Japan saw a massive growth in international visitors. A total of 2.68 million international visitors have visited Japan in July 2017, which marks a 16.8% year-on-year growth and a new monthly record.

For the initial seven months of 2017, a total of 16.44 million international tourists have visited Japan, which is 17.3% more compared to the same period last year. Going at this pace, Japan might cross the previous year record of 24.04 million tourist arrivals.

An increase in low-cost flights and summer vacation season is the main reason for an increased international tourist influx in Japan. The data is provided by Japan Tourism Agency (JTA).

Chinese and Korean arrivals were amongst highest visitors in Japan. A total of 780,800 Chinese tourists and 644,000 of Korean tourists have visited Japan in the month of July 2017. Visitors from countries like Philippines and Vietnam also rose.
