Botswana’s Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources Conservation and Tourism has had to halt the construction of anti-poaching units.

Minister Tshekedi Khama said the Ministry had to postpone the project because of lack of funds.

Alice Mmolawa, PR officer, said the project had been suspended indefinitely.

“As the Minister has indicated, the project for construction of Kasane anti-poaching camp has been halted due to shortage of funds. Currently the Ministry cannot say when the project will resume as it is not in the National Development Plan 11 (NDP11),” said Mmolawa.

Last November, Mmolawa said Botswana was bolstering its anti-poaching presence across the country with building of three anti-poaching camps in Kasane, Kang and Maun.
