Sarova Panafric Hotel Nairobi is set to undergo a Ksh1 billion (€8m) refurbishment.

Shareholders of the hotel are investing the money for the refurbishment, to further improve the hotel’s offering.

Jimi Kariuki, Group MD and Chairman of the Kenya Tourism Board, said the move was meant to enhance its appeal to clients and retain a competitive edge in the fast-changing market, reported Business Daily.

The investment was informed by feasibility studies which indicated that Kenya’s tourism members were growing at a significant rate, fast attracting hospitality brands planning to establish themselves in Nairobi, said Kariuki.

Sarova Whitesands Beach Hotel in Mombasa has also been refurbished, with 338 new rooms added.

The planned refurbishment for Sarova Panafric comes six months after the group opened Sarova Woodlands Hotel and Spa in Nakuru, costing Ksh1 billion.
