Three new itineraries are being introduced for 2019 — Gems of the Danube Christmas Markets, a sailing between Nuremburg, Germany, and Budapest; Dutch Sights & Belgium Delights, a round-trip sailing from Amsterdam during the spring tulip season; and Unforgettable Douro, an 11-day Portugal sailing.

The new itineraries bring to eight the number of river cruises offered through the National Geographic River Cruises brand. While National Geographic River Cruises is adding three itineraries, there will be the same number of total sailings — 10 — offered in 2019 as in 2018.

On each National Geographic River Cruises sailing, passengers are accompanied by a National Geographic expert who hosts presentations, informal discussions and some excursions. A National Geographic photographer is also on board to share photography tips and techniques.

In addition to the three new itineraries, National Geographic River Cruise itineraries are offered on the Rhine, Danube, Main and Moselle rivers, in France’s Bordeaux region, and on the Irrawaddy River in Myanmar.

The cruises take place on Scenic’s fleet of river cruise vessels, which the company refers to as Space Ships.
