Accor and SBE have unveiled plans to open their first Mondrian hotel in Australia.

Set for an oceanfront location on Queensland’s Burleigh Heads beach, the 208-room Mondrian Gold Coast will feature a fitness center and spa, as well as several restaurants and pools.

The property will also include 89 residential apartments.

The Gold Coast project is one of nine Mondrian properties that Accor and SBE plan to open by 2022. Most recently, the pair debuted the Mondrian Itaewon in Seoul, South Korea, in August, while also announcing plans to open the Mondrian Shoreditch London next year.

Accor and SBE also have plans to bring the Mondrian flag to markets like the Dominican Republic, Germany, the Maldives, Puerto Rico, Thailand and Vietnam.

In addition to the Seoul location, Mondrian’s current footprint comprises properties in Los Angeles, New York City, Miami and Doha.

“Mondrian has established itself as one of the strongest brands in the SBE lifestyle portfolio, showing staying power for the long term,” Chadi Farhat, SBE’s chief operating officer, said in a statement.

SBE’s other hotel brands include the SLS Hotel & Residences, Delano, the Redbury, HYDE Hotel & Residences and The House of Originals flags.

Accor acquired a 50% stake in SBE in 2018.
