Eco Retreat Odisha, a novelty product of Odisha Tourism, first held between December 15, 2019, to February 15, 2020, has returned. To be held from 8th December 2020 to 28th February 2021, the ‘glamourous camping’ or glamping event will be organized in five locations this time including Konark, Bhitarkanika, Hirakud, Satkosia, Daringbadi.
The glamp camps offer guests camping in luxury tents, complemented with a wide array of experiences ranging from jungle trails to water sports, camp-fires to boat rides, cycling tours to adrenaline-pumping games, and lip-smacking food. The Eco Retreat model is leveraged with technology which marries luxury with eco-friendliness, incorporating best practices in zero plastic use and integrated solid waste management to ensure the wellbeing of each pristine environment – be it India’s second-largest mangrove eco-system, mystical hill-station, majestic reservoir, idyllic beach or the mesmerising gorge cut by the mighty Mahanadi. Last year’s Eco Retreat was focussed on marine drives.
All this comes with Odisha’s stamp of tourist safety assurance, backed by its stellar record in COVID management. The synergised application of SOPs and technology for added safety will secure tourists’ experience at every Eco Retreat – contact-less check-in and check-out, PPE kits for staff, safe procurement of consumables, regular disinfection of all rooms, facilities and contact surfaces, thermal screening, provision of a comprehensive sanitation package for each checked-in guest, luggage sanitisation, social distancing norms, etc.
