The 374-room Omni Charlotte Hotel announced a $26 million renovation project in May 2017.

The Omni Charlotte Hotel will receive a $26 million renovation that will include upgrades to its 374 rooms, facade and restaurant.

The hotel will base much of its new interior design scheme on the concept of precious metals as a nod to the 17-pound gold nugget that marked the beginning of the North Carolina gold rush at the turn of the 19th century. The design will feature gold and silver tones, while some of the artwork will include large gold discs.

Guest rooms will get oversized sofas, while bathrooms will receive new showers and vanities. Also, the hotel’s Trade Restaurant and Bar will also be upgraded.

Additionally, the hotel’s rooftop pool area will be expanded by 3,000 square feet and will add double-sided 22-foot by 12-foot television screens for entertainment.

Located on downtown Charlotte’s East Trade Street, the hotel was built in 1977.
