One year ago today Nepal suffered a 7.8 magnitude earthquake in its capital of Kathmandu. Over 8000 people died and another 21,000 were injured, including 21 that were killed on Mt. Everest when the earthquake caused a huge avalanche. Over a hundred aftershocks continued to cause further devastation to the city and surrounding areas.
While much of the city is still in ruins and many are still homeless (according to this BBC article reconstruction has stopped and the world community’s pledged $4.1 billion has yet to be spent), a hopeful attitude has emerged, as seen in this video shot and edited by Kayla Robertson and Max Greenstein of Matter Studio.
