Palmyra Resort and Spa in the Rose Hall section of Montego Bay will be renovated and renamed the Jewel Grande by the end of the year.

The property will be part of the Jewel group of all-inclusive properties, which include Jewel Paradise Cove Beach Resort & Spa, Jewel Runaway Bay and Jewel Dunn’s River, all located on Jamaica’s north coast.

The Jewel Grande will be managed by Aimbridge Hospitality, operator of the other Jewel properties.

Palmyra opened in December 2010 with 200 out of 299 rooms, penthouses and villas open.

The property was placed in receivership by its construction lenders in August 2011, although it remained fully operational.

In February 2012, the Palmyra was placed on the bankruptcy-auction block.

The resort was acquired by Jamaica’s Sagicor Investments Ltd. in 2016.
