Royal Brunei Airlines is celebrating the successful launch of its daily non-stop London Heathrow-Brunei service, following the inaugural flight.

The first Brunei-London Heathrow flight, which landed on Sunday morning at 06:50, marks the first time in history the two nations have been connected by a direct air link.

The route is operated using one of Royal Brunei’s Boeing 787 Dreamliners, featuring lower cabin altitude, low noise and less turbulence, which helps to reduce jet lag.

Royal Brunei’s new service is also a one-stop journey to Melbourne, providing new options for travellers wanting to visit the land down under.

The flight time for the non-stop London-Brunei route is 13.6 hours, and the London-Brunei-Melbourne journey is 22.2 hours on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, or 24.3 hours on alternative days.

Royal Brunei chief executive, Karam Chand, arrived on Sunday’s inaugural morning flight to join the celebrations at London Heathrow.

Chand said: “This has been a very significant day for the UK and for Asia.

“Tourism to Brunei is at a record high, and the start of our non-stop flights will help increase this even further as well as position Royal Brunei Airlines as the go-to carrier for south-east Asian travel.”
