Marriott International is bringing its St. Regis Hotels & Resorts brand to Chicago.

The luxury hotel will be part of a new 101-story development in downtown Chicago’s Lakeshore East neighborhood, which was originally set to be branded as the Wanda Vista Hotel and Vista Tower. Featuring 191 hotel rooms and 393 residences, the project will now be flagged as the St. Regis Chicago and the Residences at the St. Regis Chicago.

Once completed, the building will be the third-tallest skyscraper in Chicago, behind only the city’s Willis Tower and Trump Tower.

The property plans on welcoming residents this December and will open to hotel guests by July 2021.

On the culinary front, the St. Regis Chicago has partnered with Alinea Group, operator of the three-Michelin-starred Chicago restaurant Alinea. The property’s venues will include a fine dining restaurant with private rooms and an outdoor terrace and an all-day restaurant and lounge overlooking the Chicago River.

Other highlights will include a Sky Bar with outdoor space, a fitness center, a spa, a swimming pool, an outdoor pool terrace and more than 7,670 square feet of meetings space, including a 5,000-square-foot ballroom.

The St. Regis portfolio currently comprises 45 hotels and resorts globally.
