The Swahili Beach Resort in Kenya has recently completed a six-week renovation.

The resort, one of only three five-star rated properties on the Kenyan coast, is located on Diani Beach, 30km south of Mombasa. It has 140 bedrooms, five restaurants, conference facilities for up to 150 people, a Beach Club and Spa, and one of the largest swimming pools in Kenya.

Physical upgrades include a stylish new entrance; a new food court buffet in the main restaurant, with a tea and coffee emporium; the resurfacing of the resort’s nine swimming pools; the refurbishing of its restaurants; and a new infinity pool. In addition, a private beach club for over 18s has been launched and three exclusive sea-view penthouses added.

Service upgrades include the following: the Kahawa coffee lounge now offers high tea and room service; a daily 18-hour concierge service will be available in the Club Rooms from October 1; guest welcome procedures have been upgraded; new Beach Club and Spa packages have been introduced; all restaurants offer new menus and wine selections; a Swahili Juniors club for visitors under the age of 12 has been launched; incentive packages and team-building group offers are available; and there is a revised conference package.

Commenting on the changes, Jeff Mukolwe, the resort’s General Manager, said: “The series of staff service innovations that we have rolled out will surpass our guests’ expectations as we’ve ensured that the resort offers far more than any other similar property in Kenya.

“The physical upgrades that we undertook, thanks to the shareholders’ reinvestment in the property, not only shows their commitment to the country’s tourism industry, but also indicates how important it is for the resort to maintain its high standards.”
