TAP Air Portugal said it will launch flights between the Azores Islands capital of Ponta Delgada and Boston next summer.

The service will couple with new Montreal-Lisbon flights to continue the Portuguese carrier’s aggressive growth in North America.

The Ponta Delgada-Boston service will operate five times per week, competing with Azores Airlines. TAP will operate the flights with new narrowbody Airbus A321LR aircraft. The carrier did not provide a specific launch date.

TAP’s new Montreal-Lisbon service will fly six times per week, also with A321LRs.

TAP has grown its service to North America from just 15 weekly flights on three routes in the summer of 2015 to a planned 82 weekly flights next summer on 11 routes. TAP’s U.S. gateways are Newark, Miami, Boston, New York Kennedy, Chicago O’Hare, Washington Dulles and San Francisco.

In addition to introducing Boston-Ponta Delgada next summer, TAP will enhance its U.S. service with a second daily flight between JFK and Lisbon as well increased frequencies on routes to Chicago, Miami, Washington and Newark.
