I write a monthly LGBT travel column in Global Traveler Magazine. For my most recent entry, I focused on LGBT tours around the world. But I found so many great gay tours of Latin America that I had plenty left over to share with you here, on my Latin America travel blog.

I love the freedom of independent, unescorted travel. But traveling on an escorted tour offers the advantage of expert advice and guidance, so you don’t have to sweat the details. You’ll have a fully formed Latin America tour itinerary, and there’s always someone on hand to answer questions. So if you’re looking for some inspiration for a gay-friendly travel experience with lots of expert insight in Latin America, look no further.

Buenos Aires-based BAGay Travel offers a variety of tours in Latin America, including a “Machu Picchu by 4×4” itinerary, slated for March 2018, with covers 4,700 miles through Argentina, Chile, Peru and Bolivia, with stops at destinations including San Pedro de Atacama, Iquique, Cusco and Machu Picchu.

Cuba has attracted a lot of attention as a tour destination in recent years, and that includes with LGBT travelers. HE Travel is offering a Cuba Cycling tour that traverses western Cuba, to view caves marked by indigenous people, giant walls of limestone in Valle de Viñales and white sand beaches.

Further south, HE Travel is offering a Tapati Festival tour on Easter Island in February, which allows participants to join the annual celebration of Rapa Nui culture, plus hiking and biking around the island and visits to its many Moai statues.
