bmi regional has announced the appointment of Andreas Weingartner as the airline’s new director of sales.

Weingartner joins bmi regional from Brussels Airlines, where he was most recently the general manager for central Europe, the Baltics, the Balkans, Russia, Armenia and offline sales.

Commenting on the appointment, Jochen Schnadt, chief commercial officer of bmi regional, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming Andreas to the bmi regional team.

“His exceptional contacts and knowledge of the European aviation industry, paired with excellent sales acumen, made Andreas the ideal candidate for this role.

“We are looking forward to working with him in our continued drive to grow and develop the business throughout Europe.”

An integral part of the commercial leadership team, Weingartner will be responsible for sales across bmi regional’s extensive network, which now spans over 400 weekly flights to 35 destinations.

Weingartner added: “bmi regional has a strong reputation as one of Europe’s leading regional airlines, providing important connectivity for both business and leisure travellers.

“I’m excited to be joining the business at a time of strong and steady growth, and eager to continue and expand upon the great work already done to develop bmi regional thus far.”
