Carnival Corp. said that an Aug. 15 ransomware attack on one of its brands had likely accessed the personal data of guests and employees.

The company did not disclose which brand was impacted.

Carnival said the attack accessed and encrypted a portion of the brand’s information technology systems and included the downloading of certain data files.

The company said it promptly launched an investigation and notified law enforcement.

“While the investigation of the incident is ongoing, the Company has implemented a series of containment and remediation measures to address this situation and reinforce the security of its information technology systems,” Carnival Corp. said in an 8-K filing.

“The Company is working with industry-leading cybersecurity firms to immediately respond to the threat, defend the Company’s information technology systems, and conduct remediation.”

Carnival said that it believes the information technology systems of its other brands were not impacted by the incident based upon its investigation so far.
