Disney on Thursday unveiled a first look at a detailed model of the Star Wars Lands under development at theme parks in California and Florida.

The Star Wars Lands are due to open in 2019 at Disneyland in Anaheim and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando.

Disney has an exhibition on display at the Disney Fan Club’s D23 Expo at the Anaheim Convention Center, July 14-16. There are models, artwork and media providing a look at some of the locations, starships, creatures and droids that guests will encounter at the Star Wars Lands.

“To say we are excited for the Star Wars-themed lands to open in 2019 is an understatement,” said Disney Parks and Resorts chairman Bob Chapek. “All along, we have said this will be game-changing, and through the model we can begin to see how truly epic these immersive new worlds will be.”

At the D23 Expo two years ago, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced the Star Wars project. The lands will have two anchor attractions — one that gives guests the chance to pilot the Millennium Falcon on a customized secret mission, and one that puts guests in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance. Each Star Wars land will span 14 acres.
