CONTINUING Singapore’s obsession with themed cafés is a pop-up interpretation of Litchfield Penitentiary Cafetria heavily featured on the hit Netflix series Orange is the New Black.

For two days on June 16 and 17, fans of the show can get a taste of prison life and eat food that characters are seen chowing down on the show.

Instead of the food being slapped out by a cranky red-haired chef as portrayed on the show, the food at the café will be whipped up by Singaporean chef Bjorn Shen, who also helms Artichoke and Bird Bird.

Fans of the show can expect the heavily debated Nutraloaf, what’s essentially three courses of food blended into a paste and baked into a loaf. The loaf is viewed by many Americans as “a cruel punishment”.

However, fans can breathe a sigh of relief because the version at the pop-up café won’t taste like the real thing. Bjorn told Mashable that his loaf will be made of mushrooms, cheddar, quinoa, pumpkin and nori.

The café’s reservation website promises diners that they’ll stay hydrated with a tall plastic cup of the refreshing house beverage: water. Other signature dishes to expect include corn, gruel and gravy.
